OpenOffice.org is already installed on Ubuntu. Accessing it is quite easy. If you are using an installation of Ubuntu with no changes to the default Desktop, then you can simply move your mouse to the Applications menu. 

 

If you place your mouse over the OpenOffice.org Word Processor (as in the above example) and take your finger off the mouse button then the OpenOffice.org will start, and within a short time you should see something like this on your screen:

 

What you see is actually a complete wordprocessor? . This means you can write letters and other texts and save them, email them, or print them. The functionality of the OpenOffice.org wordprocessor is extremely sophisticated and it is unlikely that you would need another software do all your wordprocessing. The software is also capable of opening, and writing, files from almost every other wordprocessor available including Microsoft Word.
